Discover what suits you best, that’s the goal of the traineeship Toon follows at Kolmer. He got to work in three different places (workshop, Shipping & office). Finding out about things, gaining experience and then to choose where he wants to develop further. Toon considers it a great opportunity! “My ‘Human Technology’ study consisted largely of doing research and writing reports. Not really based on content and engaging in engineering in a practical way which is what I really would like to do. I’m very happy to be given the opportunity to work in engineering at Kolmer and at the same time discover what I like best!”

So far, Toon really enjoys working in the workshop as an assembler. Engineering certainly proved to be as much fun as he expected; ‘tinkering around’ is how he refers to it. Working accurately and thinking about what you’re doing. The freedom to work independently and the pleasant mutual atmosphere suit him well because Toon is a very present, enterprising and companionable colleague. “It was a bit tentative at first but I soon felt I could be myself within the team.” Toon is a sensible go-getter and meticulous in his work, without too much fuss. Toon lives in Putten together with his parents, brother and sister. Sailing is his big hobby, weather permitting he can be found on the water in his Dehler. He also likes to engage in companionable outings with his girlfriend and friends. “Weekly conversations, courses, lots of interest and a warm welcome. Kolmer is a company that’s good for you, they involve you which is great fun. I’m proud that I finished my education even though it didn’t suit me 100% and that I was given such a great opportunity here at Kolmer!”
