36 customer-specific motors in a tunnel freezer
Here's a great example of a delivery of 36 customer-specific motors to be applied in a tunnel freezer to be taken into commission at the customer's location within twelve weeks. This example is a great illustration of our motto: Speed, Specials and Service. Here, they are used for driving both the compressor and the fans that blow air over the cooling fins in order to introduce cooled air into the space.
This solution is based on 36
Cantoni Motor S.A. motors; a European product from Poland with a strikingly robust appearance. The application of high-quality aluminium and steel makes these motors suitable for long-lasting and intensive use without jeopardising the long lifespan. The electronics are adequately protected as well to ensure the continued well-functioning under cold conditions. As the temperatures in the tunnel freezer could drop to -50°C and because of the customer's operational activities, certain modifications were required. In this respect, we obviously consulted with our customer at length to gain clear, univocal and complete insight into their requirements and wishes.

Stainless steel shafts and IP56
To begin with, the shafts of the motors had to be of stainless steel equipped with a heating element to initiate a speedy and reliable start-up even at very low temperatures. Furthermore, an IP56 protection rating was required as well.
Larger modifications
Some of the larger modifications we handled in-house were the removal of the fan and shortening of the shaft. A standard electric motor usually requires a fan for cooling but as the temperatures in a tunnel freezer are already very low, this functionality proved superfluous. By removing it, we prevent disruption of the airflow over the motor which will only make the process more efficient. In addition, we used specific bearings and obviously opted for a grease that will retain its lubricating qualities at these very low temperatures.
Kolmer Top Coating
Finally, we applied our own safe, rock-hard and wear-resistant coating, the Kolmer Top coating. This coating extends the lifespan of electric motors under extreme conditions by, on average, a factor 8.
