Carefree swimming thanks to Kolmer Electric Motors

The Netherlands suffered another heatwave this week. Since the Dutch are celebrating their vacation at home they visit the pools en masse to cool down. Did you know that electric motors are indispensable where clean swimming pool water is concerned? Behind the scenes of numerous pools you will find several electric motors working hard to ensure clean swimming pool water!

The swimming pool installation

The quality of the swimming pool water must meet strict requirements. One of the ways to achieve this is by filtering the water and providing it with the correct chlorine dosage. The pumps and purification installations used for this purpose are driven by electric motors.

Each pool machine room features several pumps engaged in the filtering process where the water is pumped out of the pool and led through a large filter in a continuous cycle; the clean water is then pumped back into the pool. During this process the quality of the water is measured and, if necessary, chemical substances can be added. In this way, the swimming pool water maintains the correct pH level and chlorine content. On very busy days all pumps can be used. On less busy days, or during maintenance, the pumps can be alternated.

Frequency convertors

Frequency converters are increasingly applied to ensure an efficient performance. These frequency converters allow the electric motors to run at every desired rpm (instead of only being switched on and off) reducing the energy consumption to a minimum when combined with the right pump.
