It’s exceptionally hot this week in the Netherlands which is why many people go for a swim to cool off. Have you ever realised that electric motors are indispensable for a clean swimming pool? Behind the scenes you will find several electric motors working hard to ensure clean swimming pool water!
Swimming pool water must meet strict requirements. After all, you don’t want visitors to become ill. The quality of the water must be guaranteed. This is done, among other things, by filtering the water and providing it with the correct chlorine dosage. For this purpose, pumps and purification systems are used that are driven by electric motors.
The technical area of a swimming pool features several pumps to filter the water. These installations are almost always duplicated. On very busy days all pumps can be used. On less busy days, or during maintenance, the pumps can be alternated. The water is pumped out of the pool and led through a large filter in a continuous process; the clean water is then pumped back into the pool. During this process the quality of the water is measured and, if necessary, chemical substances can be added. In this way, the swimming pool water maintains the correct pH level and chlorine content.
Frequency converters are increasingly being used to ensure that installations perform as efficiently as possible. This allows the electric motors to run at any speed (instead of just on or off) and, in combination with the right pump, to only consume the amount of energy that is actually needed. In this way, Kolmer’s electric motors are not only effective, but also efficient!
